Part One: One man’s trash is another man’s 1981 authentic Journey concert crew neck sweatshirt complete with tags.
We’re not so different, you and I. We like being ahead of the fashion curve. We think colours are in and people who don’t like it are out. We think that plaid is rad and pre faded jeans are insulting. But there is a problem, isn’t there? There is a cost. More often than not, when you see a fresh shirt, a clean pair of denim, a gnarley hat, or a pair of kicks that make you drop you four dollar coffee, you are immediately deterred by the price tag. Now the piece you were so in love with is gone. Tragic. But I am here with the gospel. There is a way to be FRESHTODEATH without going FRESHTOBROKE. It is called treasure hunting.
In my previous posts, you’ll here me mention that a peice from my collection was bought from one of me “sources.” Mysterious huh? That’s what I was going for. In all honesty, my sources are really little more than a collection of thrift stores, seasonal flea markets and basements of people whom I have built a repore with and grown fond of. In the next few posts, I will let you in on how to choose the right store and what to look for in the freshest of all vintage clothing. Because there is just too much information for one post, I will put a <3 next to a tip, letting you know that what is coming next is important. Neato!
